Im really considering Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations at Columbia college in chicago. Any advice?

Right now my major is Biochemistry but I really want to go into the field of entertainment and media but my parents think that im taking the wrong route. With the economy in a downfall the medical field is in demand. But it has been my dream since high school to live in California and pursue PR/Journalism. Im sure everyone has a dream, but you always reconsider because of the feedback you get. Im just stuck right now and I really need advice.!
